Yogi Wisdom: When We Practice Listening....

So....what's the difference between "hearing" something and "listening" to something?

Over the years, this has been a question that I have explored and have noticed that "hearing" some thing or some One can be much different from "listening" to some thing or some One.

The act of hearing is just that.

It means that a sound was made and then we either consciously and/or unconscious notice that we heard something or some One.

When we listen to some thing or some One, we are giving our full, undivided attention and possibly even interacting with the item or person.

Listening implies that we are fully present -- body, mind and spirit.

This allows realizations, understandings, inspirations and enlightenment to be received, explored and/or experienced in that moment or even over time, regarding that which was heard as we listened.

Listening, when combined with hearing, brings awareness.
